Open PhD position in the Team of Prof. Clarissa Prazeres da Costa!
PhD-Student – Immunology (m/f/d)
The Team of Prof. da Costa is hiring!
Our profile and the research project
Our team is committed to basic and applied translational research in neglected tropical diseases (NTD) and Global Health. One of the pillars is to improve our understanding of the immunopathogenesis of Th2-driven diseases such as helminth infections and allergies, specifically the mechanisms underlying tissue inflammation and immunomodu- lation. Such understanding will enable the development of effective therapeutic interventions and eventually policies to promote better disease management. In this context, we have recently provided insights into helminth-modulated lipid mediators as novel tissue-specific signals contributing to maintaining the delicate balance between immune activation and tolerance through the development of regulatory T cells (Treg).
Within this DFG funded project, we aim to exclusively decipher how distinct tissue-derived lipid mediators contribute to the onset and control of allergic airway inflammation, a major human non-communicable disease constantly on the rise, by shaping Treg development, identity and functionality.
